Cranial cavity (brain) and Vertebral cavity (spinal cord)

A
Internal cavities that are closed to environment and provide different degrees of protection to organs within them

Thoracic cavity and Abdominopelvic cavity

A
- Two pleural cavities (one surrounding each lung)
- Mediastinum (contains pericardial cavity, surrounds other thoracic organs)
- Pericardial cavity (encloses heart)

A
- Abdominal cavity (contains stomach, intestines, spleen, liver)
- Pelvic cavity (contains urinary bladder, reproductive organs, rectum)

Thin, double-layered membranes that line certain internal cavities of the body
