9
Q

Describe the reflex arc

A

Part of body comes into contact with hot object

Pain receptors detect sensory input and sends impulse to sensory neurone

Relay neurone passes the impulse to motor neurone at a synapse

Motor neurone carries impulse to muscles in contact with the pain

Muscles contact and move part or body away from danger

15
Q

Valves in the heart?

A

Stop the back flow of blood

16
Q

Artery?

A

Thick walls of muscle
Take blood away from the heart under high pressure
Have narrow central canals

17
Q

Vein?

A

Large channels with thin muscular walls
Carry blood to the heart under low pressure
Have valves to stop the back flow of blood

18
Q

Capillary?

A
Microscopic blood vessels which are one cell thick
Connect arteries and veins
Run close to every cell in the body
Site of exchange of materials
Form a network
Large surface area for efficiency
