Played in A capella in 4 part close harmony
Rhythmically music is syncopated as the music begins on the second quaver beat of the bar
Melodically we have repetition and the use of 7th chords in accompaniment
In bar 3, the time signature temporarily transitions from 4/4 to 5/4.

Q

Discuss the bars 5-16 (after “reality”)

https://youtu.be/yl3TsqL0ZPw?t=10

A

The vocal harmony continues
The piano joins in playing Gm broken chords on the RH and semibreve octaves on the LH
The piano motif is introduced, it is an arpeggiated figure based on the Eb chord

The piano engages in countermelody with a descending chromatic motif
On the lines “little high” “little low” there is panning left and right
On the line “Any way the wind blows”, the cymbol is flanged to create a “woosh” sound
