Bones Flashcards
(7 cards)
Which bones articulate to form the stifle joint?
Tibia and femur
Of the greater and lesser trochanter of the femur, which is lateral and which is medial?
Greater=lateral
Lesser=medial
Does the intercondylar fossa articulate with anything?
No, it is for the attachment of ligaments
Where are the menisci attached?
To the tibial condyles
Name the meniscal ligaments:
Menisco-tibial
Transverse
Menisco-femoral
What keep the patella in place?
Medial and lateral trochlear ridges (of femur)
Medial and lateral femoro-patellar ligaments (from patella to fabellae)
Fascia/retinaculum
Describe a typical radiograph of a cat’s stifle joint
Pointed patella
Medial fabella often not mineralised
Lateral fabella and popliteal sesamoid usually visible
Retropatellar fat pad visible with joint effusion (increased intra-articular fluid)
