the water runs down the valley causing valley

it was very hot so the air rose very quickly causing clouds to form

- lack of flood control
- sewage systmes were old

what impact did the lack of flood control system have?
there was less time for people to evacuate
what impact did the sewage system being old have on the flood?
there was a small capacity so the amount of water broke the system
what impact did the bridge have on the flood?
it obstructed the course of the river causing cars and vegetation to become stuck so some water was forced to go around causing properties to flood even further
what impact did the one time occourance of the flood have?
there had never been a flood this significant before so residents did not feel the need to prepare

- the roads were blocked by flood water
- properties were destroyed
- people were trapped in buildings
- people were left homeless for the night
- the sewage main burst
what impacts did the roads being blocked by flood water have?
emergency access was difficult
helicopters could only operate 2 at a time putting more lives at risk
what impact did people being rapped in buildings have?
people were forced to seek refuge on roofs and there was a high risk of hypothermia
what impact did people left homeless for the night have?
emergency accommodation had to be set up
