A

Thiamine - CCN

18
Q

What mineral deficiency is associated with night blindness?

A

Vitamin A - retinol

19
Q

What treatment/ preventative measures can be used against IBK?

A

Moraxella is a gram-ve bacteria:

1) Systemic antibiotics - Macrolides, oxytetracycline and florfenicol.
2) Ointment - cloxacillin
3) Prevention - Isolation of affected animals

20
Q

When is IBK most commonly seen?

A

Summer. autumn - due to increased numbers of fly vectors. Increased dust causing irritation of the cornea.

21
Q

How does Moraxella cause damage to the cornea?

A

Releases beta-haemolysins which degrade corneal epithelium.

22
Q

Pink eye

A

Moraxella bovis - IBK

23
Q

Blue eye

A

MCF - corneal oedema

24
Q

Which opthalmic virus can recrudesce with stress and cause abortions?

25
How is listeria transmitted to the brain?
Retrograde transmission up nerve axons!
26
What lesions may be seen with cases of BVD?
Cataracts
