Brain Flashcards
(13 cards)
Cerebral hemisphere
Most superior part of brain and larger than the other three brains region combined
Gyri
Elevated ridges of tissue
SUlci
Shallow grooves
Fissues
Deeper grooves and separate large region
Lobes
Fissure or sulci divide each cerebral hemosphere into a number of lobes
Frontal
Primary motor, move skeletal muscles, language compression and reasoning
Parietal lobe
Somatic sensory area(touch), impulses from sensory receptor are localized and interpreted, allows pain, coldness, touch
Occipital
Visual, eyes are interpreted
Themporal
Auditory, factory( smell and hearing), complx membrane
Cerebral cortex
The cell body of neurons involved in the cerebral hemisphere function mention earlier are found in the outermost area
Diencephalan
Enclosed by te cerebral hemispheres
Cerebellum
Controls balance and equlilbrium
Brain stem
Involuntary function, has midbrain, pons, and medulla oblongta
