Looking at the triple indicator (TPI), what does the top indicator display?
Brake accumulator pressure in the YELLOW hydraulic system
Which hydraulic system is used to apply the brakes when the parking brake is set?
The YELLOW hydraulic system
If the parking brake is set and the TPI indicates the accumulator pressures low, how do you charge it?
Obtain ground clearance
Turn off PTU switch
Turn on YELLOW pump
When accumulator is charged, turn off YELLOW pump
Turn PTU back on
When taxing out with both engines running, when you step on the brakes, what indication do you expect to see on the bottom pressure indication of the TPI?
The indicators should read zero. The TPI only shows YELLOW pressure applied to the brakes. With both engines running, the GREEN system should be should be pressurized and normal brakes should be working.
Taxing out you step on the brakes and nothing happens, what do you do?
Immediately release the brake peddles
Turn off the A/SKID NW STRG switch
Reapply brakes 1000 psi max
If still no braking, use parking brake
If still no braking, use reverse thrust
After performing immediate action items for brake failure, which brake system will you be using?
The alternate brake system YELLOW hydraulic
If using the alternate brake system, will anti-skid still work?
It may or may not. If YELLOW is fully operational you still have anti-skid. If you only have accumulator pressure, you do not have anti-skid
What parameters cause the BSCU to apply MED auto brakes on landing?
Two seconds after ground deployment if deceleration from thrust reversers are not adequate
What does the DECEL light tell you if it is on?
Actual aircraft deceleration corresponds to 80% of the selected rate. Measured by ADRs
If the DECEL light is on, does that mean the brakes are being applied?
NO
What systems need to be working for auto brakes to work?
A/S NW STRG switch on
BSCU working
Normal GREEN system brakes
Anti-skid
At least one ADR
MAX brakes selected, will you get auto brakes if you execute a low speed abort?
Not if the abort is made below 72 kts. Because automatic spoiler extension extension will not occur below that speed.
After landing, what brake temperature requires a log book write up?
If temperature difference on brakes of the same gear are greater than 150 C
Temp on brakes grater than 600 C
Temps on brakes less than 60C
