Q

What is Jacoby Transfer?

A

a convention used by responder to a 1NT opening bid when holding a five-card or longer major suit. A response of 2D asks opener to bid 2H, a response of 2H asks partner to bid 2S. One advantage is to have the stronger hand, the 1 NT opener, as declarer in the major suit. Jacoby Transfers can also be used after NT overcalls or higher level NT opening bids.
