What happened in May 1307 at Loudon Hill?
Many English soldiers were forced to fight in a small area, Bruce was so fierce the English at the back fled and panic spread.
What happened on the 7th July 1307?
Edward I was enroute to Scotland to deal with Bruce, but died near Carlisle forcing the army to return to England.
What happened in 1307-08 in Galloway?
Bruce attacked the Comyns in Galloway, so fiercly that peasants fled to England. Comyns asked Edward II for help but recieved no reply. Bruce then destroyed their lands (herchsip), making it impossible for Comyns to fight him again.
What happened in 1307-08 in Buchan?
Bruce went North-East where Comyn’s held more land. He went up the Great Glen and destroyed Nairn Castle however he fell ill attacking Banff and was attacked but the army effectively withdrew to Huntly under Bruces’ brother.
What happened on 23rd May 1308?
The Comyn’s gathered an army but we’re defeated in Inverurie. Bruce then turned their lands in Buchan into a wasteland warning his enemies forcing some nobles like the Earl of Ross to accept him as King.
What happened in mid August 1308?
Bruce turned on the Comyn’s friends and defeated the MacDougalls of Argyll at Daryl.
Who did Bruce then get support of?
Angus Og MacDonald, a rival of the MacDougall’s who intended to defeat them by ambushing them, but Bruce ambushed them instead.
What happened on 9th January 1313?
Perth had a stone wall and ran beside the River Tay but it wasn’t guarded as it was freezing water. Bruce went knee deep to climb the town wall and captured the town and destroyed the walls.
What happened in September 1313?
The Scots hid in a hay cart and went into the castle and stopped to jam a door, caputing castle at Linlithgow.
What happened in February 1314?
At Roxburgh James Douglas disguised his men and creeped up on the walls of the castle, capturing it.
What happened in March 1314?
Thomas Rundolph arranged for Scots to attack one side of Edinburgh Castle, and he clibmed the rock sliping the wall. Capturing the getway to let more attackers in.
