He was attacking Perth and was surprised attack by English and defeated in Methven Woods.

In Dalry, Bruce’s remaining followers and himself fleed towards Argyll and John Macdougall (a relative of Comyn) defeated him - forcing him to flee Scotland.

Nigel Bruce and Earl of Atholl took Bruce’s wife, daughter and several woman to safety at Kildrummy but England seized the castle and they captured Nigel Bruce.

They were capturated at Tain and Nigel Bruce and the Earl of Atholl were executed while Robert’s wife was sent to an English house and his sister was publicly imprisoned.
