What is the allowable amount that you can charge a patient for records for a public benefit program?
Nothing- Upon presenting to the provider a written request and proof that records are needed to support an appeal regarding eligibility for a public benefit program. (Medi-Cal, Social Security, Supplemental Program for the Aged, Disability) you are not allowed to charge for records. No more than one copy per request.
If a patient notices a mistake in their records, what is the word limit in the Addendum per incorrect item that the health care provider needs to attach to records?
250 words PER incorrect item. Must be attached to records when sent to third parties.
