Eye level shot
The eye level shot is set up so that the camera is eye level with the character
High angle shot
The high angle shot looks down on the character, it puts the viewer in a superior position.
Low angle shot
The low angle shot makes the subject look superior.
Extreme close up shot
This camera shot might perhaps only frame one part of a humans face.
Close up shot
The shot usually frames the human head or something similar size.
Medium close up shot
The shot usually frames the human head and shoulders.
Medium shot
The shot usually frames the human head and torso.
Medium long shot
This shot can usually frame one or two peoples whole body.
Long shot
The shot can usually frame an entire room or a large group of people.
Extreme long shot
The shot might frame a whole house or anything large.
Narrative perspective
The person telling the story.
Setting
Where the scene is set.
Shifts in focus
Moving our attention away.
Shifts in perspective
Changes point of view or what can be seen.
Exterior to interior
Moving from inside to outside.
Dialogue
Speech. This allows us to know what the characters are saying.
Order of events
Sequence of what happens in the text.
Flashbacks
Looking at something that happened in the past.
Zooming in
The writer narrows our focus on something.
Cyclical structure
The writer mentions something mentioned at the beginning at the end.
