- Removing canal contents
- Eliminating infection
- Creating shape

What are the cleaning and shaping objectives?
- Remove infected hard and soft tissue
- Give disinfecting solutions access to the apical canal space
- Create space for the delivery of medicaments and subsequent obturation
- Retain the integrity of radicular structures

-The hedstrom will have a round black circle on it and the k file will be square (These indicate the cross section of the shank)

-Radiograph
