What are the four components of blood?
Red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, plasma
What is the function of red blood cells?
To carry oxygen using hemoglobin
What is plasma?
The liquid part of blood that carries nutrients, hormones, and waste
What are the heart’s four chambers?
Right atrium, Right ventricle, Left atrium, Left ventricle
What does the SA node do?
It acts as the heart’s natural pacemaker
What is systolic pressure?
The pressure in arteries when the heart contracts
What is the function of platelets?
To help blood clot
What valve is between the left atrium and left ventricle?
Bicuspid (Mitral) valve
What is hypertension?
High blood pressure, typically 140/90 mmHg or higher
What do capillaries do?
Allow exchange of gases and nutrients between blood and tissues
What is the pericardium?
The protective sac surrounding the heart
What is angina?
Chest pain due to reduced blood flow to the heart
What is the function of the pulmonary artery?
To carry deoxygenated blood from the heart to the lungs
What are symptoms of a dysrhythmia?
Chest pain, dizziness, shortness of breath
What is the Bundle of His?
A part of the electrical conduction system in the heart
