What does pacemakers do?
A
They usually maintain HR
They can coordinate the conduction

What are the indications for having a pacemaker installed
A
Complete heat blocks
Chronotropic incompetence
Long Qt syndrome
AF
Tachy-brady syndrome

What are the different pace makers
A
Single chamber - this is pacing the artia or the ventricles
Dual chamber - atrial AND ventricular pacing
Biventricular CRT - Heart failure, these are 100% paced

What is a ICD
A
This is a cardiac defibrillator
usually shocking at 20-40 joules

What does a holter monitor do
A
This is placed in the pts chest for around 24-48 hours and can look at the rythums over that period of time
