3
Q

what is directly linked to the damage seen in the body

A

This is the amount of force. The greater the force the more damage you would see

Q

What are the three main paths that patients follow in frontal collisions?

A

Up and over
Ejection
Down and under

Due to crumple zones in modern cars there is significant less mortality and morbitity however crumple zones can make the crash look worse

Q

What are some injuries you can see in ejection crahses

A

these kinds of crashes need to have a very high index of suspicion.

These can have injuries from hitting the winshield and car parts themselves but it can also be from coming into contact with the iteams outside of the car e.g. road or a tree.

You also need to think about if the pt is going to be ejected far away from the crash itself

Q

what sort of injuries does a down and under crash show

A

You can also get paper bag conditon (Collapsed lung) People hold their breath and then the impact causes the lungs to pop

Q

What is the main risk of rotational collisions

A

These can result in more secondary collisions, causing hyperextension and hyperflexion

Q

What differs the index of suscpiction in rollover collisions

A

This can be ethier minor or servere and it is based on the speed

At high speeds there is significant MOI resulting in mass internal organ damage, crush injuries and possible secondary injuries from loose objects in the car

Q

What are some injuries that can occur with a pediatric involved in a crash

A

Kids usually turn towards the car and since they are smaller have a higher impact on the body.

They are also more likley to be thrown from the car or run over by the car
