Cardiovascular Drugs Flashcards
(10 cards)
The one that controlled by the Autonomic Nervous System
Heart Rate
The amount of tension (stretch) applied to the muscle before contraction
Preload
Blood pressure that is higher than normal. Your blood pressure changes throughout the day based on your activities.
Hypertension
Amount of blood ejected from the left ventricle and measured in LPM
Cardiac Output
Resistance to blood flow that is determined by the diameter of the blood vessels and vascular musculature
SVR
Group of medicines that dilate (open) blood vessels, which allows blood to flow more easily. They’re used to treat or prevent: High blood pressure (hypertension) Heart failure.
Direct Vasodilator
Used to treat glaucoma, a condition in which increased pressure in the eye can lead to gradual loss of vision. Acetazolamide decreases the pressure in the eye.
Acetazolamide
Medicines that help prevent blood clots. They’re given to people at a high risk of getting clots, to reduce their chances of developing serious conditions such as strokes and heart attacks.
Anticoagulant
Angina that occurs in coronary MVD may differ from the typical angina that occurs in heart disease in that the chest pain usually lasts longer than 10 minutes, and it can last longer than 30 minutes.
Microvascular Angina
Occurs when the heart must work harder, usually during physical exertion
Stable Angina
