Jamaica- small island in the Caribbean
Jamaica was colonised by UK part of slave trade, once gained independence industry and agriculture struggled to run which lead to high unemployment rates and debts.

-In 2018 30% of Jamaicas economy is tourism
- 1 in 4 Jamaicans are employed in tourism - hotels, running restaurants, gift shops
- 4.3 million tourists visited Jamaica in 2017
- areas recieving many tourists tend to develop quicker: bulilding developments, larger ports for boats and cruise ships. an example of this is Kingston: the capital city of jamaica, one of the islands two airports is located here so many tourists travel through kingston to their hotel resorts. many hotel developments have been constructed as well as museums celebrating local heros such as bob marley and usain bolt

Montego Bay: very popular tourist resort attractive for its sandy beaches. many cultural attractions as well as extremely accessible to visitors both staying on the island and those visitng for the day from cruise ships.

Cockpit Country: natural tourist location, home to 500 square miles of rainforest containing exotic species.

environmental impacts of tourism:
- job opportunities for locals giving Jamaica a stable income
- global reuptation of jamaica grows, which in turn could benefit politics and future investment opportunities
- large resort construction uses vast volumes of concrete releasing carbon dioxide. this contriubtes to global warming
- natural fragile ecosystems such as cockpit country are under threat lowering egocentrism.
