Casus 1 Parkinson Flashcards
Parkinson (8 cards)
What is the primary cause of parkinson?
The degeneration of nigrostriatal neurons that results in lower dopamine concentration in the striatum.
Wat zijn de symptomen van parkinson?(4)
Tremor –> pill rolling tremor
Rigidity –> cogwheel(upper)led pipe rigidity(lower)
Akinesia –> struggle to move
Postural instability–> hunched over
What is used in pet scans for parkingson and where does it bind?
18Fluordopa binds to the dopamine receptors in the striatum.
What is the most used drug to help relieve parkinson symptoms?
L-dopa
how does deep brain stimulation work?
An electrode is placed in the subthalamic nucleus to stimulate this part of the brain.
what happens to the dopaminergic neurons in Parkingson?
The neurons in the substantie nigra pars compactum degenerate and the remaining ones start to malfunction due to lewis bodies.
What is the function of the D1 and D2 receptors in the brain and where are they located?
they lay in the substantia nigra pars compactum:
D1: stimulate movement
D2: inhibit movement
What causes the degeneration of the substantia nigra pars compactum
Alpha- Synuclein
