CC-ALY Systems Review Flashcards
(6 cards)
1
Q
Carburator Icing Temperature Range
A
Carb icing most likely when OAT below 70°F (21°C) and the relative humidity is high (above 80%).
2
Q
Electrical System Basics
A
- 14-volt, direct current system
- Powered by engine-driven alternator
- 12-volt battery
3
Q
Troubleshooting
Weak, intermittent firing; puffs of black smoke from exhaust stack
on startup
A
- Overpriming or flooding
- Clear by setting the mixture to idle, opening the throttle, and cranking through several revolutions; then start normally without further priming
4
Q
Procedures
Mag Check
A
- Perform to 1700 RPM
- Dip should not exeed 125 RPM on either side or show a differential greater than 50 RPM between sides
5
Q
Troubleshooting
RPM Reduction
A
- Carburator icing
- Apply full throttle and full carb heat, then minimum necessary to prevent icing
- Adjust mixture to compensate for richer mixture caused by warm air (which is less dense)
6
Q
Troubleshooting
Slight engine roughness
A
- Fouled spark plugs
- Verify by checking individual magnetos
- Lean the mixture for cruise flight; if roughness continues, choose mixture setting for best opperation and land as soon as practicable
