What is a neutron?
A particle in the nucleus with no charge. Has the same mass as a proton.
What is a proton?
A particle in the nucleus with positive charge. Has the same mass as a neutron.
Which of these has the smallest mass?
A) an electron
B) a neutron
C) a nucleus
D) a proton
electron
What is mass?
Mass is the amount of matter.
How do you work out the mass number of an atom?
The total number of protons plus neutrons in the nucleus.
How do you work out the atomic number of an atom?
The number of protons of in the nucleus.
What is the nucleus?
The central region of an atom.
Which of these has the LARGEST mass?
A) an electron
B) a neutron
C) a nucleus
D) a proton
a nucleus
When is a positive ion formed?
When one or more electrons are lost.
When is a negative ion formed?
When one or more electrons are gained.
What does sublime mean?
The process of a solid turning into a gass.
Why does hot water evaporate quicker than cold water?
Because the particles have more energy so the bonds break.
