Duplication techniques?

A

Simple - to shorten the denture making process

Complex - when the replacement must copy the original to a greater or lesser extent:

  • Elderly
  • When tolerance is compromised
  • When a duplicate denture is needed

How to do the simple duplication?

A

Cast model from current denture
- Model formed on denture using silicone putty
Use alma gauge to form registration rims

Steps to the complex duplication technique?

A

1C. Make a negative of the dentures in an alginate flask
1T. Template in wax and acrylic
2C. Make adjustments to face height
2T. Remove wax teeth and replace with acrylic teeth
3C. Try in and reline imps
3T. Process and finish
4C. Placement and check record

What to do if the try in is satisfactory?

A

Impression is taken in the fitting surface of the template and denture is processed
Small increase in FH can be expected BUT if unwanted - it can be compensated for at the try in stage by reducing the FH slightly
