Cell Cycle Flashcards
(7 cards)
What does Mitosis produce?
2 genetically identical diploid daughter cells - to help produce new body cells e.g. skin cells
What does Meosis produce?
4 genetically non-identical haploid daughter cells (gametes - for reproduction)
What is Meosis?
The method of cell division that takes place in the reproductive organs to produce haploid cells for sexual reproduction
What is Mitosis?
A form of asexual reproduction, it’s the process for growth tissues and replacement of lost cells
What is interphase?
When the cell is growing and DNA is replicated.
What happens to the DNA in interphase?
The DNA is uncondensed and replicated so DNA doubles.
Organelles are also replicated and ATP production is increased
What is Cytokinesis?
The final stage of mitosis where cytoplasm divides.
