What are the major phases of Cell Cycle?
INTERPHASE & M-PHASE
M-Phase includes mitosis, meiosis, and cytokinesis.
during this phase, the cell undergoes normal growth processes while also preparing for cell division
recognized as the longest stage in the eukaryotic stage
INTERPHASE
Interphase are composed of three stages :
G1 PHASE, S PHASE, G2 PHASE
Cellular contents are duplicated ; growth of the cell
G1 ( Gap 1 )
Characterized by the occurence of DNA Replication
genetic material is doubled before the cell enters the actual cell division
S PHASE ( SYNTHESIS )
The cell replenishes it’s energy, and some of the organelles are duplicated
preparation for the actual cell division
G2 PHASE ( GAP 2 )
Is the process by which a parent cell divides into two or more daughter cells.
CELL DIVISION
Cell Division has two types :
MITOSIS & MEIOSIS
a type of cell division which occurs on body cells or somatic cells
results in identical daughter cells
MITOSIS
What are the four stages of Mitosis?
- PROPHASE
- METAPHASE
- ANAPHASE
- TELOPHASE
The nuclear membrane or nuclear envelope disintegrates
centrioles duplicate and start producing spindle fibers
chromatids condense into chromosomes and become visible
PROPHASE
Alignment of chromosomes at the middle of the cell
Spindle fibers attach to the centromeres of the chromosomes
METAPHASE
Separatiom of chromosomes to chromatids, moving to the opposite poles of the cell.
spindle fibers start to shorten
ANAPHASE
Chromatids reach the opposite poles of the cell and become chromatins
nuclear membrane reintegrates
formation of the cleavage furrow
TELOPHASE
Cyto means?

The physical process of cell division, which divides the cytoplasm of a parental cell into two daughter cells
CYTOKINESIS
A type of cell division which occurs on sex cells or gametes
results in generally unique daughter cells

What are the two cell cycles of Meiosis?
MEIOSIS I & MEIOSIS II
also considered as the shorter and simpler process than Meiosis I
MEIOSIS II
is dubbed as mitosis for haploid cells
