Fused lysosomal granules, cytoplasm of myeloblasts/promyelocytes/monoblasts, AML diagnosis

Basket/Smudge Cell
A
Leukocytes damaged during blood smear, due to cell fragility. Seen in AML

Howell-Jolly Bodies
A
Remnants of DNA in circulating erythrocytes. Indicative of a spleen disorder/splenectomy. Also seen in haemolytic anaemia, megaloblastic anaemia, hereditary spherocytosis, MDS.

Pappenheimer Bodies
A
Found along the periphery of red cells. Must be confirmed with an iron stain.
