Q
Interphase
A
46 chromosomes
1
Q
Mitosis
A
Produces the cells of the body. When they split, they produce two identical daughter cells with a complete set of DNA. It only has one division that leads to two cells. Purpose is growth, development, replacement, repair and asexual reproduction. Mitosis is performed by all somatic cells in the organism.
2
Q
Prophase
A
Chromosomes doubled to 92
3
Q
Prometaphase
A
Nucleus dissolves and microtubles attach to centromeres.
4
Q
Metaphase
A
Chromosomes align in middle of cell.
5
Q
Anaphase
A
Separated chromosomes pulled apart.
6
Q
Telophase
A
Microtubles disappear. Cell division begins.
7
Q
Cytokinesis
A
Two daughter cells formed, each with a complete set of DNA and 46 chromosomes.
