cells Flashcards
(11 cards)
Nucleus and Nucleolus
The nucleus directs all cell activity and controls its activities and controls.
The nucleolus makes the ribosomes and writes directions for how they should functions.
Cell membrane
The cell membrane surrounds the cell and regulates what goes in and out of the cell. It is selectively permeable which means that it can control what it lets in and out.
Mitochondria
The mitochondria produce the energy needed for the cells functions.
Golgi body
The Golgi body assembles and packages protein for the distribution
Vesicles
Vesicles transport materials through the cell and go through the membrane to move materials out of the cell.
Endoplasmic reticulum
The endoplasmic reticulum transport proteins and other materials to other organelles in the cell.
ribosome
The ribosomes make the protein products of the cell which carry out a cell’s functions.
Vacuole
The vacuole stores food and water for the cells. Plant cells have large vacuoles and animal cells have small ones
Lysosomes
Lysosome sounds break down worn out cell parts and digest the cell waste.
cell wall
The cell wall surrounds the cell membranes it protects the cell and gives it support
chloroplasts
The chloroplast converts light energy into chemical energy in the process of photosynthesis.
