Cells Flashcards
(8 cards)
What are the features of a plant cell?
Cell Membrane, Nucleus, Cytoplasm, Chloroplast
Cellulose Cell Wall, Large Vacuole.
What is a cell membrane?
It holds the cell together and controls what enters and leaves it.
What is a nucleus?
It controls all of the cell activity and contains chromosomes which control inherited features. (i.e. It carries genetic information).
What is cytoplasm?
It is where all of the cell activity takes place, (e.g. respiration).
What are the features of an animal cell?
Cell Membrane, Nucleus, Cytoplasm.
What are the little organelles in cells called?
They are called mitochondria.
What is mitochondria the site of?
They are the site of aerobic respiration and ribosomes, where proteins are made in a process called protein synthesis.
What is the size of a cell limited by?
The distance over which diffusion is efficient.
