What are the functions of the cell membrane?

1. Physical barrier - separates the cell cytoplasm from the extra cellular fluid around the cell.
2. Regulation of the passage of materials.
3. Sensitivity - the cell membrane is the first part of the cell affected by any changes in the extra cellular fluid.
4. Supports - the internal part of the cell membrane is affected to the microfilaments of the cell’s cytoskeleton, thus giving support to the whole cell.
