cells (bacteria virus) Flashcards
(3 cards)
Binary fission
-large loop replicates once and plasmids replicates
-DNA moves to opposite ends of cell
-cell grows bigger and cytoplasm divides
-new cell wall synthesised
-cytokinesis
Virus structure
-acellular cannot reproduce on their own
-contains nucleic acid and enzymes surrounded by protein coat called capsid
-enclosed in a viral envelope with attachment proteins sticking out
-no cytoplasm cell membrane or ribosome
viral replication
-virus gets inside host cell by binding receptors to attachment proteins
-can only infect one cell type (complementary)
-Virus releases capsid into cell
-single strand nucleic acid converted into double strand dna
-integrated into host cell’s genome
-host cell ribosome translate viral dna into viral protein
-assembled into viral particles
