What is a cementitious material?
It is a substance used for construction that sets,hardens, and adheres to other materials to bind them together.
What are the types of cementitious materials?
Hydraulic cement
Supplementary cement
What is Hydraulic cement?
-It is the inorganic materials that have the ability to react with water under ambient conditions to form a hardened and water resistant product.
What is supplementary cementitious?
It is a material that when used in conjunction with portland cement,contributes to the properties of the hardened concrete through hydraulic or pozzolaric activity or both.
Examples of supplementary cementitious:
Thinset
Grout
Plaster
What is thinset?
It is a mortar that is made of portland cement, silica sand, and moisture retaining agents.
What is grout?
It is a dense fluid which is used to fill gaps or used as reinforcement in existing structures.
What is plaster?
It is a building material used for the protective or decorative coating of walls and ceilings and for moulding and casting decorative elements.
