used for surgical prophylaxis and skin infections

Second generation (cefuroxime, cefotetan)

A

Decreased activity vs. GPC, increase vs. GNR
2 subgroups:
Respiratory: H. influenza and M. catarrhalis
GI/GU: Increased activity vs. B. fragilis

pneumonia/COPD flare
abdominal infections
