Cerebellum Flashcards
(7 cards)
What is a reactive motor control movement and how fast does it occur? Is it voluntary or involuntary?
Movement in response to an unexpected perturbation.
- 50 to 80 ms
- involuntary
What is anticipatory motor control and what is the delay in muscle activation?
Back ext firing to stabilize trunk in anticipation of movement
-50ms delay
____ loop is movement that is executed without the use of sensory feedback.
Open. Occurs to quickly for adjustment to take place
-eg. boxing jab
What are cerebellar folia?
Little folds to accomodate Cb cortical neurons.
What separates the flocculonodular lobe from the posterior lobe?
postero-lateral fissure.
Does damage to the cerebellum result in paralysis or sensory loss?
No.
List the functional subdivisions of the cerebellum and what belongs in each.
VESTIBULOCEREBELLUM
- reciprocal conn w/ vestibular sys
- flocculonodular lobe
SPINOCEREBELLUM
-Vermis (trunk) and paravermal (limbs)
CEREBROCEREBELLUM
-lateral cerebellar hemis of both ant and post lobes
