  1. block the effects of the PSN system. Blocks Ach at the muscarinic receptors. Therefore, a cholinergic action does not occur.

  1. Most widely used anticholinergic drug (antidote for cholinergic drugs)
  2. therapeutic use:
    increase HR treating bradycardia
    decrease secretions pre-op
  3. SE:
    dry mouth
    constipation/urinary retention
    tachycardia
  4. implementation:
    monitor HR and urinary output
    frequent mouth care
