Structure of the court and power within each court

A

1) Supreme Judicial Court: The highest court in some states, as Massachusetts and Maine.

2) Appeals Court: Reverse, remand, and affirm.
A court whose jurisdiction is to review decisions of lower courts or agencies.

3) Superior Court: (In many states of the US) a court of appeals or a court of general jurisdiction.
4) District Court: A state of federal trial court

The goals of criminal justice

A

1) Doing justice - has 3 principle subset.

Offenders will be fully accountable for their actions.

The rights of persons who have contact with the system will be protected.

Like offenses will be treated alike and officials will take into account relevant differences among offenders and offenses.
