Safety factors of gloves
Strength and durability, effective barrier, non irritating, impervious to materials used in clinic, length
Ergonomic factors of gloves

Factors affecting glove integrity
Length of time worn, complexity of procedure, packaging of gloves, size of gloves, pressure of time, storage of gloves, agents used, hazards of the hands
Type I sensitivity to latex
Immediate reaction: Hives, runny nose, dermatitis
Type IV sensitivity to latex
Delayed reaction: contact dermatitis occurs 8 hours- 5 days after exposure
Individuals at high risk for latex sensitivity
Occupational exposure, multiple surgeries or procedures with latex tubes, have other documented allergies
