His solution was to annex Texas and orgeon area and buy California. It works because it aligned with the manifest destiny.

The disputed area was where the southwestern border for Texas was. Americans went to where we thought the border was and Mexican soldier shot them which outraged Americans as it meant American blood was shed on American soil

Us soldier stormed Mexico and took captured the capital which forced them to surrender. It gave the us over 500000 square miles and the us paid $15 million and agreed on taking over over $3 million in debt
