Q

What is meant by limiting conditions?

A

Any conditions that are likely to be detrimental to the effectiveness of treatment, e.g., we are unable to find a reinforcer, we find a reinforcer but are not allowed to use it or the teacher won’t use it, any party won’t fulfill their part of treatment

Q

Why do we need to collect baseline?

A

To show the actual frequency and trend of behavior, that a problem actually exists, and to have a point of comparison to determine whether treatment is effective.

Q

Why is it important to explain to the client what the data means?

A

You have an obligation to explain the baseline data, functional assessment, reinforcement assessment, or other forms of behavioral data collection to the client, in plain English, so he or she can understand what is involved.

They have a right to know which environmental variables have been found to affect the behavior. This includes informing them of any limiting conditions.

Q

What is meant by assessment tools must be up to the task scientifically?

A

The behavior analyst is obligated to learn about the research associated with the assessment and to make sure that it is used within the boundaries of reliability and validity that have been established for the assessment. It’s also important to consider medical or biological causes of behaviors.

Q

What is the most likely form of misuse of an assessment?

A

To go beyond the data that are actually collected. We do not overstate the results of our assessment results and discourage others from doing so.

Q

When and why do we write behavioral objectives?

A

Before attempting to implement the program, and to the extent possible, a risk-benefit analysis should be conducted on the procedures to be implemented to reach the objective. These are written to help determine when treatment is effective and should be terminated.
