Fredonian Rebellion
Haden Edwards was given a land grant that allowed him to settle 800 families in Nacogdoches. He got kicked out by the Mexican government because he was trying to kick people out of their homes. Edward s got independence and called the land next to Nacogdoches the Fredonian republic
Mier y Teran Report
Mier y Teran was sent to texas to inspect settlements and report back. He said that American settlers outnumbered Mexican settlers. 10 to one.
Law of April 6th
Mier y Teran made the law of April 6th to help the government place more troops in Texas, to attract more Mexican settlers to Texas, and to increase trade between Mexico and Texas.
Centralist Party
The Centralists came to power in 1829 and were more strict on the colonists. They wanted the central government to have more control.
Federalist Party
The Federalists came to power in the 1820’s and wanted the colonists to be left alone. They also wanted states to have more control.
Stephen F. Austin
Stephen F. Austin was the most successful emparssario in Texas. He was trying to get a letter to the Mexican Government when he got arrested.
Turtle Bayou Resolutions
They did three things pledged their allegiance to Mexico federalists, They said their actions were against Bradburn, not Mexico, and they stated their loyalty to Santa Anna.
Battle of Velasco
John Austin got a cannon and Ugartechea tried to stop him. A fight broke out and Ugartechea surrendered.
Santa Anna
Santa Anna was a dictator who threw out threw out the Mexican Constitution of 1821. He then sent his brother- in- law, Martin Perfecto de cos to deal with the rebellious Texians.
Convention of 1833
In the Convention of 1933 the Texians wanted to see change in the Mexican government. They did this by resuming U.S immigration, Texas to be exempt from taxes, separate statement for statement.
