Marquis de Rubi was sent to inspect all of the missions in Texas after the 7 year war. Texas missions should be abandoned and East Texas settlers should be moved to San Antonio.

Gil Y’ Barbo lead people to East Texas without permission. After East settlers were furious about being forced to leave their homes.

The US and Spain made an agreement that no one owns the land between Sabine river and Arroyo Hondo. They did this because they couldn’t agree on whos land in was.

The US and Spain made a treaty to end the neutral ground agreement in 1816. The new border was the Sabine river. They did this because there were smugglers, outlaws, and fugitives in the area.

Jose Bornado Gutierrez de Lara traveled in 1811 to help free Texas from Spain. While there he met Augustus Magee abd they created the Republican Army of the North.

After the making of the republican army, General Arredono killed all of the army because the Spanish was overwhelmed. This resulted in Texas being under Spanish control for another seven years.

Stephen F Austin was the first empessario. He found land for settlers and was sent by Erasmo Seguin to pick out land.

Following independence, debates began over how Mexico should be governed. Two new political parties were forward called Federalists and Centralists Federalists took power first and wrote a new constitution for Mexico in 1824 that would directly affect Texas.
