2
Q

multi-strand chain

A

transmit a great deal of power compared to single strain
used in applications with much heavier loads and higher speeds than a single-strand chain can handle

3
Q

double pitch chain

A

has the same construction as standard roller chain except the pitch is twice that of a single pitch chain

Q

offset chain

A

whereas standard roller chain contains two different kinds of links that mate with eachother, offset chains contain only one kind of link

6
Q

why would you use a offset chain

A

because this type of chain does not require a connecting link, it can be made without rollers, and normally made with high strength steel to be used in heavy-load, low-speed applications

7
Q

what are the 10 steps to install a roller chain drive?

A

mount and level the motor and driven component
inspect sprockets
mount the sprockets on the shaft
align the sprockets
mount the chain
apply tension to the chain
apply lubrication
run the motor briefly to test the drive
recheck the chain sag
chain removal
