Q

What are the 4 notes for the Navy chamber support levels?

A

NOTE 1: Based on space constraints at the site, the Commanding Officer may authorize extension of the surface interval to a maximum of 7 minutes

NOTE 2: A non-Navy chamber may be used if authorized in writing by the first Flag Officer (FO) in the chain of command, and must include a NAVSEA 00C hazard analysis.

NOTE 3: A non-Navy chamber may be used if it is evaluated utilizing the NAVSEA non-Navy recompression chamber check sheet, and authorized in writing by the Commanding Officer.

NOTE 4: During extreme circumstances when a chamber cannot be reached within 6 hours the Commanding Officer can give authorization to use the nearest approved recompression facility.

Continuous ventilation
28
Does the size of the chamber influence the rate (acfm) of air required for ventilation?
No
29
When are pressure tests required on recompression chambers?
When initially installed 2 year interval After major over-haul or repair
30
When shall chambers receive routine maintenance with the post-dive check list?
After each use | Once a month
31
How often is a chamber inspected inside and out?
Annually
32
What types of chamber s are required to be painted?
Steel Chambers (stainless steel chambers are not required to be painted)
33
How much faster does a fire spread in a chamber than at atmospheric pressure because of the higher ppO2?
2 to 6 times faster
34
What precautions are taken to minimize fire hazards in the chamber?
Durett or Submarine mattress (enclosed in flame proof covers) 100 % cotton sheets and pillow cases Clothing is 100% cotton or for chambers (Diver swim trunks made of 65% polyester 35% cotton material are acceptable) Use lubricants approved in NSTM chapter 262
