Subtractive versus Additive

A

Subtractive and Additive is a technique for statue-making.
For example, carving is a subtractive technique because it is a reduction of its original mass.

In additive sculpture, the artist can build up forms by adding clay around the framework. Or something will be cast or poured in a mold.
