Marketing Chanel
Consists of individuals and firms involved in the process of making a product or service available
Transactional function
When intermediaries buy and sell goods or services
Logistical function
When intermediaries prepare and get products to the buyers
Facilitating function
They make transactions easier for buyers. For example: give credit cards to consumers
Time utility
Means having a product when you want it
Place utility
Means having a product available where consumers want it
Form utility
Involves enhancing a product to make it more appealing to buyers
Information utility
Means providing consumers with the information they need to make an informed choice
Possession utility
Efforts by intermediaries to help buyers take possession of a product
Dual Distribution
Arrangement whereby a firm reaches different buyers by employing 2 or more different types of channels for the same basic product
Strategic channel alliances
One firm’s marketing channel is sued to sell another firm’s product
Vertical marketing system
Professionally managed marketing channels designed to achieve channel economies and maximum marketing impact
