Embellishing tones that occur in metrically stresssed contexts.
Most important accented embellishing tones
Accented passing tone (APT) Accentented neighbor tone (AN). The suspension (S). The pedal (PED). The appogiatura (APP)
Suspension
An embellishment, the most important type of accented embellishing tones, where a pitch is sustained to the next implied chord change for it to resolve.
Name candences (p. 171 of Chapter 5)
Perfect authentic Candace: soprano moves 2-1 or 7-8 while the bass moves 5-1.
Imperfect Authentic Cadence has the soprano close on 5 or 3.
Contrapuntal cadence: Another type of imperfect authentic cadence whic is any bass motion other then 5-1.
Picardy third: In minor key, if teh tonic harmony closes with a major triad.
