Chapter 1.2 SD and Graphs Flashcards
(14 cards)
Steps for standard deviation?
1) Find the mean
2. Find the variance
3. Find the Standard Deviation
How do you find the mean/median/ and average?
Mean - Add all the numbers in the data set and divide by the amount of numbers in the se.t
Median- List data from least to greatest, find middle number.
Average- Subtract smallest data point from the largest.
Where does the independent variable go on a graph?
The x- axis
What about the dependent variable?
Y-axis
Define Mass.
Amount of matter in an object.
Define volume.
How much space something takes up.
List the prefixes and their base units.
kilo- 1,000
base- 1
centi- 1/100
milli- 1/1,000
micro- 1/1,000,000
nano- 1/1,000,000,000
pico- 1/1,000,000,000,000
Convert 1.7 km to centimeters
1.7km x 10^3m/1km x 1cm/10^-2m = 170000 cm
or
1.7 x 10^5
What’s a Direct relationship?
When both variables increase together.
What’s an indirect relationship?
When one variable increase, the other decreases.
What’s a peak graph?
When one part of the graph is the highest point and the data decreases from there.
What’s a constant/nonlinear relationship?
When one variable changes and it doesn’t affect the other.
Convert 4.5 cm into nm.
