what is encephalitis?
it is an infection that attacks the entire brain and the most common cause is by a mosquito bite, which pick it up from horses, birds, or rodents.
what are symptoms of encephalitis?
Symptoms include fever, irritability, nausea and then
convulsions, delirium and signs of brain damage.
what is herpes simplex virus?
the cause of sores around the mouth
where does the herpes simplex virus live?
The virus lives in the trigeminal nerve on the fifth cranial nerve
what does herpes attack?
frontal and temporal lobes
what is acute anteriorpoliomyelitist? (polio)
It causes specific damage to the motor neurons of the brain and spinal cord.
what is rabies?
This is caused when an infected animal bites an individual. The virus travels through the peripheral nerves to the CNS and causes severe damage.
what is meningitis?
this is inflammation of the meninges, which is the connective tissue surrounding the CNS
what` cause meningitis?
caused by virus or bacteria
does meningitis cause brain damage?
only bacterial meningitis, not viral meningitis
