psychological disorder
deviant. distressful and dysfunctional behavior patterns
fear of spiders is deviant but isn’t disorder because it doesn’t impair your life
attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder
a psychological disorder marked by the appearance by age 7 or one or more of three key symptoms; extreme inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity
medical model
concept that diseases in this case psychological disorders have physical causes that can be diagnosed, treated, and in most cases cured, often through treatment in a hospital

generalized anxiety disorder
person is unexplainably and continually tense and uneasy

worry continually, jittery, agitated, sleep deprived
free floating anxiety
time mellows emotions and anxiety becomes rare
panic disorder
which a person experiences sudden episodes of intense dread
anxiety tornado
panic attack
minutes long episodes of intense dread that something horrible will happen
heart palpitations, shortness of breath, choking sensations, trembling, dizziness
smokers are doubly at risk because nicotine is a stimulant
phobias
person feels irrationally and intensely afraid of a specific object or situation
avoidance

OCD

which a person has lingering memories, night mares and other symptoms for weeks after severely threatening uncontrollable event
