1
Q
Explain the theory of plate tectonics?
A
Plate tectonics is the theory that Earths outer shell is made up of individual plates that move causing earth quakes, volcanoes, mountains, and the formation and destruction of areas of the crust.
2
Q
What are the types of plate movement?
A
Divergent, Convergent & Transform
Divergent- when two plates move apart
Convergent- when two plates move towards eachother
Transform- when plates move parallel to eachother rarely causing damage
3
Q
Explain the rock cycle?
A
- Igneous rocks form when magma or lave cool
- Weathering, erosion and deposition are related processes that break down rock into small particles and move to different locations
- Most sedimentary rocks are created after millions of years of compaction and celebration of loose sediments
- Metamorphic rocks are “changed” versions of igneous, sedimentary and other metamorphic rocks
4
Q
Explain glaciation and its effect on Canada.
A
Glaciation affects the land
5
Q
Explain 6 erosion so effects of Canada.
A
- Effects soil
- Change drainage patterns of rivers, streams, lakes
- Till plains are created and sediments are released when melted
- Moraines
- Meltwater moves glacial debris
- Meltwater river flows into meltwater lakes
6
Q
Describe the 7 landform regions of Canada?
A
HIGHLANDS Western Cordillera Innuitian Mountains Appalachians LOWLANDS Interior Plains Great Lakes- St. Lawerence Lowlands CANADIAN SHIELDS Canadian Shield

What are the four eras of the earth?
A
Cenozoic Era (recent time) Mesozoic Era (middle time) Paleozoic Era (old time) Precambrian Era (before the Cambrian)
